Waipa Tech Meetups started in early 2025 to support the rapidly expanding tech scene in Waipa.  A partnership between local tech company Rocketspark,  Soda Inc, Waikato Regional Business Partner and Waipa District Council, the original pilot programme of four meetups quickly established itself as a popular addition to the tech scene in the Waikato led by Tech in the Tron.  

Each meetup covers a tech-related topic with ‘tech-xperts’ providing expert knowledge and tips to attendees in quick, snappy sessions followed by robust networking over drinks and nibbles.  Now a permanent fixture in the local tech scene, meetups are also drawing in people from Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland.

The meetups also attracted central government attention with Southland MP Joseph Mooney visiting the team in August 25 on a mission to get similar meetups started in Queenstown – he left with his own Tech Meetups Queenstown website, built for him as he waited by the amazing team at Rocketspark!
